One of the 10,000 things I love about fall is apples. And with apples usually comes caramel apples, right? Today we have an awesome little twist on the normal caramel apple. Instead of dipping a whole apple in caramel and then proceeding to attempt to bite into it (which usually proves difficult) we bring to you the Caramel Apple Bar!
This is a great idea for a get together with friends and family this fall. All you need is lots of delicious apples (sweet, tart and firm are the best – Granny Smith, Jonagold or Pink Lady), some delicious caramel and other various toppings of your choice.
What we used:
Caramel dip (see recipe below)
Chocolate fudge dip (we used this family recipe that is delicious and easy!!)
Mini M&M’s
Honey Greek yogurt
Candy corn
White chocolate chips (mini if possible)
Butterscotch chips (mini if possible)
Crushed candy bar (Butterfinger, Crunch, Oreos…)
Set it up for people to fill up their bowls with sliced apples, drizzle with caramel and chocolate and sprinkle with lots of other goodies!
Trisha
Caramel Dip:
can of sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
Remove wrapper on sweetened condensed milk. Put into a crockpot of already boiling water. After putting the cans in, wait for the water to boil again. Let boil for 3 hours. Move cooked milk to bowl and mix in vanilla. You can do several (3 or so) cans in a crockpot at a time.
