Apparently, this hot fudge sauce has been in the family for decades. Unfortunately, I only discovered it last year. (Tragic, I know.) I’m pretty sure it will be a regular part of my life from here on out.
What’s to love about this little recipe? There’s a good chance you already have everything you need to make it. Oh, and it’s crazy delicious.
Bonus #3? You can make a ridiculously cute little Valentine with the sauce, a wooden spoon (we found ours on Amazon Prime here), and a baby (half pint) Mason jar. We used alphabet stamps for the lettering on the spoon, but all of you people with beautiful handwriting don’t even need to worry about that. What if you have not so pretty handwriting and no stamps? Don’t worry about a thing. The sauce will make up for it. I promise.
- 1½ cups sugar
- 4 Tablespoons Flour
- 4 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
- 1 can evaporated milk
- ½ cup butter
- Mix sugar, flour and cocoa powder.
- Add 1 can evaporated milk & ½ cup butter (cut up in small pieces).
- Boil for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Add 1 teaspoon vanilla.
- This recipe fills 3 (half pint) jars, or 3 cups of yummy chocolatey goodness.
So go spread some Valentine’s Day cheer. Your neighbors (or any blessed soul you bring this to) will love you forever.

I made this for my VT sisters and actually ate the leftovers out of the jar with a spoon! So good, thanks for sharing!

Yay! So glad it was a hit! I totally eat this out of the jar with a spoon when it’s sitting in my fridge. Love it!
