Homemade Sweet Granola

Homemade Sweet Granola

This recipe is kind of like those irresistible Greek sirens whose job it was to lure sailors to dangerous reefs .  It will call to you whether you are folding laundry, cleaning your bathroom, or balancing your budget. It should come with one of those “don’t try this at home (while you are alone)” warnings.

That being said, it is so scrumptious and is an easy treat for your kids’ day off school (between those fun games we shared on Monday!) or when you have a crowd over for the big game. If you have very many kiddos or at least 2 son-in-laws around, DOUBLE IT!

Combine together in a large bowl:
4 cups Raisin Bran
3 cups Rice Crispies
2 cups Special K or Total
1 cup peanuts or cashew halves
3/4 cup coconut (optional)

Boil for 10 minutes (low boil):
1/2 c. butter
1 cup light or dark Karo
1 cup brown sugar

Pour hot mixture over the cereal and stir all together.  Put on wax paper.  Watch it disappear!

HI! This looks really yummy but could I ask what does “1 square butter” mean? Thanks!

Hi Jennifer! Sorry about that-1 cube of butter, or 1/2 cup. Enjoy the granola!
