Strength training is super important for everyone to do – not just the athlete or the young adults or the men. We all need it! Strength training doesn’t mean spending an hour in the gym or bulking up like crazy though. Today I’m sharing with you 2 workouts you can do in your own home or at the gym that focus primarily on working your chest and triceps (with some shoulders and abs mixed in).
When it comes to strength training there are two important things to remember:
1. Keep good form to avoid injury – If you haven’t lifted before, I would recommend meeting with someone like a personal trainer or someone who knows a lot about lifting to give you some pointers before starting.
2. Be sure to lift the appropriate amount of weight for the number of reps – we want the last couple reps to be challenging so you are pushing yourself but not so hard you can’t finish.
Some of these exercises are performed on an exercise ball. If you don’t have one, you can perform the exercise on a regular workout bench or on the ground. But I would recommend looking into getting an exercise ball – they are great for at home workouts!
You can find print-out versions of the workouts here.
If you have questions about any of the exercises feel free to leave a comment or search for an example online. Let me know if you try either of them!
