Creative Couples Costumes

September 21, 2015 by Shari

What are you going to be this year? That’s the big question as temperatures dip and pumpkins abound. I love seeing the creativity of friends at Halloween. Our Houston neighbor hid up in a tree dressed as an ape. When the trick-or-treaters ventured near he would jump down or swing from a rope, leaving the kiddos shaking in their batman boots!

My friend Kristi and her husband always have amazing couples costumes. Russ is 6’10” so they love using his height to make their costumes fun. We asked her to share some of their great ideas – they are sure to give you some inspiration, whatever size you are.

Every year during the first week of October, we wait with bated breath for the invitation to our annual neighborhood Halloween party! There is always a theme and the invitation reflects the creativity of my two darling friends who host each year. There was the wax finger in a box with a string tied around it. A secret message that could only be decoded with a special magnifying glass with the request you come as a hero or a villan. A small television box that rotated through the announcement that you should come as someone from a TV show. A book that opened up to reveal you should be dressed as your favorite character from literature. And last year it was a poison apple under a glass dome. Can you guess? Please come as your favorite fairy tale character!

The parties are amazing! They are always at a fun, creative place, and people really go all out to dress up and have fun! Here are a few of our ideas:

1. Character from a book

mobydick
2. Character from TV

3. Hero or a Villian

4. Formal wear Formerly Worn

5. Fairy Tale Character

6. Famous Couples

This will be our 10th time attending and I can’t wait to see what they will come up with this year!
