The Needing Spot
By Natalie
Sometimes we think we couldn’t possibly be good parents because we make mistakes. Or because so much of the time, it’s just so hard.
Sometimes I yell. I feel like I’m losing my mind-and my temper.
I have no idea what to do for Sam.
I never say the right thing.
Family night blew up.
I’m not cut out for this. My house is a wreck.
We fight. The kids fight. Quarantine has been one big ginormous fight.
I’m not sure where or how I fit as my kids become adults.
Clark won’t eat anything besides macaroni and Gushers.
I try every day. And I mess up. Every day.
From the mouths of moms, these are things I have heard-and quite recently at that.
You’ve heard them too.
Your girlfriends have said these things and you’ve jumped right in with something like this, “Did you see how you handled that name-calling episode? Top notch. Or how you calmed that scraped up toddler or angsty teenager with your touch and that big mama heart of yours? Well, I saw it. I see you. Take note, sister. You are remarkable.”

Have you ever watched a dog or a baby wake up from a nap? The first thing they do is stretch. And they stretch a lot. I think they might have something to teach us inflexible people, wouldn’t you say? This month for our healthy resolution we are going to focus on stretching more. I think…

ONLY 17 MORE DAYS! (Or 346 if you’re us…) Any missionary mom knows exactly what that statement means! DIY: Homemade Laundry Detergent
I sort of (really) embrace the idea of living a more natural lifestyle. I like the idea of fewer chemicals and more things homemade. I like reading ingredient lists on anything and everything and being able to actually understand them. This might be why one time my sister-in-law walked in my house and said it…
DIY: KOOB (The Best Lawn Game. Ever.)
Every once in a while, you discover one of those things that changes how you have fun. That’s probably about to happen for you. This is one of those games that I discovered at a friend’s house-and when I got home, the first thing I did was jump on my computer to see where (and…
Zucchini Boats
I’m not really a big pinewood derby fan. Maybe that’s because the only award my son ever received in that event was for the “Best Tasting Car.” My little Cub Scout had spent hours making his car and painting it. The night before the derby my dog chewed a big chunk out of it. Yep,…
Pioneer Day Singing Time or FHE
As kids, we didn’t grow up in Utah. We were all over the country, a few years here, a few years there. We learned to love the deep dish pizza and museums of Chicago, the southern hospitality (which is completely 100% real) of Houston, and the sunny days of Denver (Denver has more sunny…

“I put da zuke with da coconut and ate dem all up……” Do you want to give your bumper crop of zucchini a little island flair? Try our COCONUT ZUCCHINI MUFFINS!
Family Friendly BUNKO
Just to make things clear right off the bat, the kind of BUNKO we play involves no gambling or money – only some dice, lots of friends and family, tons of laughing and excitement and some candy. Sounds like a pretty sweet combination, right? It is. There are several things about BUNKO that our family…
