Each year we pick a focus for our blog – something that we will post about every month. Two years ago it was a health challenge every month. Last year it focused on getting prepared. This year we are focusing on dating – specifically dating your spouse and strengthening your marriage. Because we believe family and marriage is so important. But even if you aren’t married, a lot of these posts still apply to you. So get excited! I sure am!
My husband and I aren’t big movie people. Nor are we big go-out-to-dinner people. So when we started dating back in the day (Coming up on our three year anniversary! I know, we are ancient.) we had to get a little creative with our dates. It also helped that growing up my parents always taught us to have a plan for dates – none of this just hang out at the house stuff. This brought us to making a list of 50 date ideas to choose from whenever we weren’t sure what to do. Then on days or nights where we didn’t have something already planned, we asked a family member or friend to pick a number and that is what we did!
These aren’t super special ideas, but we tried to have a variety in activity and cost. There are some that are specific to Utah, but they are pretty easy to cater to wherever you live. And the good news is it will keep you from going to the store to get deodorant for your date! (that really happened to my mom…horrible, right?)
I’ve attached the list here, but you can see some of the ideas below. Feel free to add some of your own ideas in the comments! We are always looking for new things to do!
- make tin foil dinners
- go to a museum
- fly kites
- take personality tests
- go on a tandem bike ride
- skittle bowling
- take pictures at a photo booth
- play a game of HORSE
- double date with your parents
- go rock climbing
