Love Notes: 4 Ways to Say I Love You

Love Notes 4 Ways to Say I Love You

One of my husband’s love languages is words of affirmation. So over the years I’ve tried to think of creative ways to spice up the traditional love note. Here are a few fun ways to let your Valentine know how much you love them – all throughout the year!

1)   Memory Book: While we were dating and into the first few years of our marriage, my husband and I saved notes, ticket stubs, and other things we’d given each other or done together in a little box. For our 2nd anniversary, I decided to compile all these keepsakes into one book. I got photo sheets with different sizes of photo slots (2 per page, 4 per page, full sheet, etc.) and did my best to chronologically arrange them to tell the story of our courtship. I also printed off e-mails and Facebook messages we had sent each other. (I didn’t include any photos, but that would be fun to do as well!) My husband loved looking back at all our memories, and we still enjoy re-reading all the cheesy love notes we wrote each other :).

2)   Note-cards: Before Trisha and Joe were married, they received a recipe box with note-cards where their friends and family had written marriage advice for them – and also a lot of extra, blank note-cards! So they decided to put them to good use! They randomly write love notes to each other throughout the week – expressing appreciation, wishing each other well for something important happening that day, etc. – and place the card where the other person will find it. Then that person returns it to the back of the recipe box where they can reread them later!

3)   The notebook: Natalie and her husband have a love notebook they write in and pass back and forth. The goal is to return the notebook with a new love note, within a week, to a place where the other person will find it (Tim may or may not like to hide the notebook after writing in it so it sometimes takes a few days before Natalie even finds it:)). Sometimes they throw in a funny card too as opposed to just writing in the book.

4)   Car notes: My mom saw this idea a few months ago – one of the husbands in her neighborhood decorated his wife’s car for their 15th anniversary with phrases like “Just 15 Year’d”, and the number of days they’d been married. He used this marker that washes off easily. (don’t try soap – it’s much harder to clean off!) What a fun surprise for her to find that morning!Processed with Moldiv
Whatever you do, find a way to help your Valentine know how much you love them! A little love and appreciation goes a long way!
