One of the most popular posts we’ve ever shared here at Let’s Get Together was all about making your own KOOB (the best lawn game, ever, but really). Since then, we’ve loved hearing back from people as they’ve made or bought their own sets and enjoyed hours of fun with their families and friends. I’m telling you, this game is a winner.
KOOB (also known as kubb, Viking chess or the Viking game) is an outdoor game that has recently taken Scandinavia by storm. Legend has it that the Vikings used to play it, so it is often referred to as The Viking Game.
On the most basic level, you’re throwing sticks at blocks. But I’m guessing you’ll want something a little more specific in terms of instructions. This video (made by a company that makes and sells the sets here on Amazon with free shipping) gives an awesome overview.
You can find more detailed, written instructions here.
We love the game because it works for 2-12 players (what a range!), ages 5 and up (kids and adults love this) on any outdoor surface (grass, gravel, dirt, sand, concrete, etc). Seriously. I’ve never taken this game anywhere and introduced it to other people and had it not be a big hit. For more information about the game, be sure to check out www.playkoob.com.
Because spring is in the air and we like you-and the good people at KOOB The Viking Game have been so generous-we’re giving away a Family Edition of KOOB! (We also love that no chemicals are used in the manufacturing of this game, completely natural!) The giveaway will close next Monday, March 30th, at noon (Mountain Time)-so enter away!

Love the idea of getting the whole family outside and playing games. I think that this would be great for our annual family campout. As an Activity Days leader, this would be awesome. Our family likes to camp, ride bikes and hike.

We love having fun, new ways to play outdoors with the grandchildren when they come to visit. We especially love games that they can continue playing as they grow older. It reinforces their memories of playing with us when they were younger, and the bonds grow ever stronger.
