The Needing Spot
By Natalie
Sometimes we think we couldn’t possibly be good parents because we make mistakes. Or because so much of the time, it’s just so hard.
Sometimes I yell. I feel like I’m losing my mind-and my temper.
I have no idea what to do for Sam.
I never say the right thing.
Family night blew up.
I’m not cut out for this. My house is a wreck.
We fight. The kids fight. Quarantine has been one big ginormous fight.
I’m not sure where or how I fit as my kids become adults.
Clark won’t eat anything besides macaroni and Gushers.
I try every day. And I mess up. Every day.
From the mouths of moms, these are things I have heard-and quite recently at that.
You’ve heard them too.
Your girlfriends have said these things and you’ve jumped right in with something like this, “Did you see how you handled that name-calling episode? Top notch. Or how you calmed that scraped up toddler or angsty teenager with your touch and that big mama heart of yours? Well, I saw it. I see you. Take note, sister. You are remarkable.”

Our family just returned from a couple fun days in the beautiful outdoors with some great friends. I love the sounds, smells and tastes of summer: the snap-crackle-pop of a campfire, the heavenly scent of pine trees after a light rain, and the gooey-ness of toasted marshmallows and chocolate. Getting all the camping gear together…
Camping Scavenger Hunt
This post is brought to you by none other than my sweet and crazy and always-looking-for-a-party husband. That’s right. In addition to work and school and family and being a completely supportive certifiable blog husband-(remember all those trees from the asking and answering to dances post? well, someone had to round them up, pick them up,…
“Baptism” Song Flip Chart {FREE PRINTABLE}
Not that you were particularly worried about it, but I did survive my first week as Primary chorister. I didn’t sleep more than three hours on Saturday night (yeah, I’m one of those neurotic non-sleepers when I’m worried about something. Anything.), but week one is down and I’m breathing a little easier. July is…
July: Drink More Water
I’m sitting here eating peas freshly picked from the garden after tie dying some shirts outside – I think it’s safe to say summer is here. And with summer comes heat. That’s why this month’s healthy resolution is to drink more water!
Noah’s Ark Game
Q:What animal on the ark could Noah not trust? A: The cheetah Q: What kind of lights were on the ark? A: Floodlights Q: Which animal on the ark had the highest degree of intelligence? A: The giraffe Haha! I love the Bible story of Noah’s Ark and as a child wondered how Noah could…
4th of July Singing Time or FHE
As of last week or so, I’m a brand new (read: terrified) Primary chorister. I have not a clue what I’m doing, so before we go any further, if you get a minute any time between now and Sunday, feel free to say a quick little prayer for me. Now that you have a ridiculous…
Family Olympics
It all started the summer of 2011. My mom heard of some family friends doing a family Olympic challenge. Theirs involved real weight lifting and some crazy athletic performances. So she decided why not have our own family Olympics! But instead of tests of strength and agility we’d test out some other crazy things…like…
Summer Sipping
I experienced some amazing things this Spring while traveling to Dubai with my husband for business. Two favorites were dune bashing and Middle Eastern style lemonade. Dune bashing is a popular off-roading activity over sand dunes in parts of the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Crazy fun – we loved it! But on a hot, dry…
