We moved 10 times in our first 20 years of marriage. You might say I have a weird sickness – I get a little giddy when I see a moving van. (Not so much now that I have grandkids) I always loved the thought of a new adventure for our family, but still hated leaving dear friends and saying good-bye.
I’d like to share three ways to say “so long” to those who are heading out and will be missed:
1. We’ll be blue without you! A mother never forgets exceptional kindness shown to her children. Some darling girls brought a blue poster and a bunch of blue items to my daughters as we were moving from Texas. Put a few fun blue things in a basket or cellophane bag: gum, fingernail polish, Oreos, Almond Joy, or blue EOS lip balm. Wrap them up and finish off the simple gift with this free printable tag!
2. Wind chime. My amazing neighbor gave our family this thoughtful gift as we were leaving Colorado. When I hear the chimes sing it makes me think of her and it’s been more than 10 years!
3. Postcard on the way. This is simple but was so fun for our family. Our sweet neighbor mailed postcards to my kids a few days before we left. So when we arrived at our new home they had mail waiting for them!
These are fun good-bye gifts, but a personal hand-written letter is always a treasure. I have a few I keep in my drawer and pull out to remember the friends and the places we loved so much.

What sweet gifts your friends have given you through the years! Thank you for the printable, “We’ll Be Blue Without You”; However, don’t get any ideas! I have no intentions of using it on you! Thank goodness for the local Nyman Grandchildren! 😉

How about a welcome to the neighborhood gift for a young family? I like the idea of a container to put everything in.
